A Slayer does not hunt for glory; she hunts because others cannot. The creatures of darkness may possess strength, magic, immortality, or numbers, but a Slayer possesses something they cannot—the will to stand between the innocent and the night. A Van Helsing must never forget the purpose of the blood that runs through her veins. She shall know her enemy, study its weaknesses, respect the danger it presents, and never mistake arrogance for courage. The hunt demands discipline, preparation, and sacrifice. A Slayer may fight alone, but she must never believe she is above the duty she has sworn to uphold.

A Slayer protects the living, even when the living cannot protect themselves. Family, allies, innocents, and those who have earned the Slayer's trust are to be defended without hesitation. Yet vengeance must never become justice, and hatred must never blind the Slayer to the difference between a true threat and an innocent creature. Alliances may be forged with those who walk the supernatural path, when such alliances serve the protection of humanity and the greater good. A Slayer is permitted to distrust, question, and remain cautious—but she shall not condemn another solely for what they are. The Van Helsing name carries both a weapon and a responsibility, and neither may be abandoned for personal hatred.

When darkness rises, the Slayer rises with it. She shall not retreat simply because the enemy is stronger, nor surrender because the odds appear impossible. If she falls, she rises. If her weapon breaks, she finds another. If the path disappears, she makes one. But above all, a Slayer must remember that she is not required to sacrifice her humanity to defeat the monsters she hunts. Compassion is not weakness, loyalty is not a flaw, and love is not something to be ashamed of. A Van Helsing may carry the darkness of the hunt upon her shoulders, but she will never allow that darkness to claim her soul.
