Danya's Bio-Current updating as the story unfolds
Category: Uncategorized

Birth/Younger years

Born within the Denali family was a child named Danya Atarah Denali. The child was born full of life and a spirit that knew no bounds. To say she would not allow herself to fit into a box is an understatement. Unlike other families, the Denali family had a secret that one would ever so want to behold. They were not what one would ever call a normal family. Being creatures of the night, they had a certain way of handling things. They were not blood suckers, but animals, so to speak. Wolves often had packs and the children produced by the alpha pair can be a few to several. From a young age Danya knew that she would never fit in with the “mortal” servants. Knowing this she would allow those servants that were close to her to be themselves and ask whatever they wished.

She was the youngest out of her siblings which meant her view of the world was slightly different. Her heart was way too big for her own good and the world would always be a harsh punisher for those with big hearts. The Denali family took a hit with the loss of the matriarch and patriarch of the family. Danya adored her parents and losing them was a harsh blow to her. She had her siblings, particularly Selene. Selene in more ways than one took on that role of being the parent for Danya.

Being the youngest of the Denali sisters meant that Danya was around the same age as some of her nieces and nephews. The memory of her parents seemed to fade in and out. She could remember the smell of her father’s cologne and remember how her mother’s voice sounded when she sang her to sleep. Other than that, there were fading memories of them. Danya rarely spoke about the Denali parents because in many ways the older sisters took that place. The main sister that took the place of their parents was Selene. Selene was always like her mother anyways. Though she was very young, Danya had children of her own as well. Twins Haven Denali and Echo, Markus Denali, another set of twins Tean Denali, and Kieran's Denali, and Annabeth Denali. She had kept their father’s identity hidden from everyone including them. It was not that she did not want them to have their father’s side of things, but she wanted in her own way keep them safe.

Because of being close to her family, it was a no brainer when Selene said she was going to have a sleep over. So, after gathering up all her children, she headed towards Selene’s estate. Once there, she allowed each of them to go play with their cousins and started to enjoy her family time herself. Danya enjoyed being with her family and the sleepovers of the Denali family were known to be legendary. Danya felt there was no need in the world to worry, for she knew that she was protected like all there. She had her family, and that time was all that she needed in the world.

The night was long but filled with joy, fun, and togetherness. However, all things must come to an end and as Danya helped each of her children get into their own sleeping bags before getting into her own. In her mind, if she slept nearby then if she was needed, she can get there quickly. As she was starting to settle down; the dark-haired and blue-eyed beauty looked around and noticed something or someone. Amayah Lestat seemed to look uncomfortable. She couldn’t put her finger on it but decided to shake it off as she laid her head down upon her fluffed up pillow. She pulled over her eyes the eye mask over her eyes to keep everything dark so she could sleep. It felt like she was slowly falling asleep when something burning came into her noise. At first, she thought it was something within her own mind that was playing tricks on her.

The Fire Everything goes up in flames

The smell became too much, and the sound of screams filled her ears. Danya knew that she was not dreaming at all, and she needed to move. She could hear her name being called in the distance by some ladies in waiting and other servants. “Lady Danya move!” they screamed with one running over to her and ripping the eye mask off her face. A gasp escaped her lips as she looked around and saw everyone running around. “WHERE ARE MY CHILDREN?” she asked standing up still inside her sleeping bag. She looked around still in a daze and panic began to fill her.  “No time for that run!” The lady in waiting said grabbing her arm. Danya did not want to budge, wanting to find the others, especially the littles. She wanted her children, but she couldn’t see them. She broke free from the lady in waiting’s grip and rush to where she had tucked her little ones in bed. She pulled opened each of the sleeping bags as if perhaps they had just shrunk and were down at the bottom of the sleeping bags. “WHERE ARE MY BABIES!!” She screamed feeling another pull of her arm. She began to panic more, and tears filled her eyes as smoke began to fill her lungs.

Danya felt as if her body was moving on its own as she was following several of the ladies in waiting that was around her age. “This way.” They said slipping through the halls like shadows. Danya had no choice but to move. She for a moment thought maybe she should just stay in place, however, the lady in waiting looked at her for a moment. Her gaze was filled with mother’s pain of knowing. “My lady, we need to move. We will find the children when we get out of here. If we do not move we will be burned alive and then your babies will have no one.” Through her eyes, Danya could see that so many were running around. Flames were surrounding everything destroying everything they touched. How did she sense this, or smell this, or connect anything until being woken up. “Quickly.” She heard one of the ladies in waiting tell her.

Danya knew not what to do but to follow. She wanted to find her family and help; however, she knew nothing of how she could help. She became as if she was in flight mode instead of fight mode. Danya wanted to scream as tears ran down her face, seeing everything being destroyed and everyone running in fear. “Who did this?” she asked one lady in waiting grabbing her arm as another pulled up a secret entry way that was used by the staff and some of the family to get through the large estate without being seen. There were some secret passageways that only the family knew just in case of emergencies. “We do not know but we need to leave. Everything is chaos.” The lady said, pulling her into the passageway.

The Blue eyed beauty looked around panicking more and more as time went on. She could see no children. Which they could, however, just before she was going to go in fully something caught her eye. “What is Amayah Lestat doing?” she asked herself as she saw Amayah looking at a window that had yet to be engulfed in flames which probably meant she was using abilities to keep the flames back. This thought came to her since flames were around that area. “We do not know but we need to leave. She will leave in time.” They said as if they knew something. Danya sighed yet nodded finally walking through the passageway. The young women walked through the twisting and turning passageway smelling the smoke that was quickly bringing down the estate. “Where does this one lead?” she asked with a thick European accent.

Deep in the Forest

Years passed, yet Danya still had no idea where her children were. Sometimes it felt as though they had simply vanished from the world, swallowed by the chaos of that terrible night. But Danya refused to believe they were gone. Somewhere deep inside her, the mother in her continued to insist that they were alive. What haunted her most was that she could not remember how she had escaped the estate. She remembered the lady-in-waiting who had guided her through the passageways, remembered the smoke filling her lungs and the flames beginning to surround them, but after that, everything became fractured. She remembered being left alone within the tunnel. She remembered stumbling through the darkness, her body growing weaker with every breath. Then there was the floor beneath her, and the sensation of someone lifting her. A man. She could remember the strength of his arms around her, but never his face. Never his name. Never where he had taken her. That missing piece of the night became one of the many ghosts that followed her long after the flames had disappeared.

The guilt was worse than the memories. Danya could not stop wondering whether she should have stayed. Perhaps she should have searched longer. Perhaps she should have fought through the flames. Perhaps she should have refused to leave without finding her babies. Every question became another blade against her heart. She knew she was not the only mother who had lost children that night. Selene's children had been scattered as well, their family torn apart by whatever had happened within the estate. Still, knowing she was not alone did little to ease the pain. Danya carried the guilt as though it belonged solely to her. Eventually, she stopped trying to find comfort among others. The woman who had once loved family gatherings and surrounded herself with those she trusted slowly disappeared. In her place stood a woman who no longer wanted a pack. Danya became untamed, wild, and fiercely independent—a lone wolf who trusted no one.

The forest became the only place where Danya felt safe. Deep within what many called the Cursed Woods, or the Forgotten Woods, she found a strange kind of peace. Society no longer made her feel protected. People reminded her of everything she had lost, while the forest asked nothing of her. The trees did not question where her children were. The wind did not judge her for surviving. The darkness did not ask her why she had lived when others might not have. So Danya built herself a home among the trees, far enough away from the world that she could breathe again. She built a small cabin with her own hands, planted a garden, gathered what she needed, and slowly created a little oasis that belonged entirely to her. It was not luxurious, and it was not the grand estate she had once known, but it was hers. No one could enter without her knowing. No one could betray her if she never allowed them close enough to do so.

Yet living alone did not make the wolf inside her disappear. Danya still hunted, still wandered beneath the moon, and occasionally found herself causing a little chaos simply to remind herself that she was still alive. The village beyond the woods became an easy target. She knew every path leading into it and every route back into the forest. She knew where the villagers traveled, and which places they believed were safe. Sometimes she would venture close simply to cause trouble, never staying long enough to be caught. In her mind, it served a purpose. If she kept them alert, if she kept them wondering what might be lurking beyond the trees, perhaps she was keeping them safe in her own twisted way. She could never allow another family to become as vulnerable as hers had been. It was almost as though keeping everyone else on their toes could somehow prevent another tragedy from happening.

But no amount of distance could make her children disappear from her heart. Every morning, she woke with the same unanswered question, and every night she went to sleep wondering where they were. The years did not erase the memories; they only buried them deeper. Danya learned how to survive with the pain, but she never learned how to let it go. One afternoon, she stood outside her cabin with an axe in her hands, splitting a piece of wood for the fire. The blade struck the log with a heavy thud. Again. And again. With every strike, the memories seemed to grow louder. Tears gathered in her blue eyes as she stared at the broken wood before her. “My babies,” she whispered. The axe struck again. “My babies. My babies. My babies.”

She repeated the words over and over as though they were a prayer, or perhaps a spell that might somehow reach them wherever they were. Her breathing became uneven as she lowered the axe and rested both hands against it. “Where are my babies?” Her voice cracked. For a moment, the forest became completely still. Danya lifted her head. She heard something.

A voice. It was faint, almost carried away by the wind, and yet there was something painfully familiar about it. She turned slowly, looking between the trees and toward the small path leading away from her cabin. Nothing moved. No one stood there. The voice did not come again, but the feeling remained. For the first time in years, Danya realized something she had spent so long trying to avoid. She could not hide forever. Her children were still out there somewhere, and if there was even the smallest chance, they were alive, she had to find them. The thought terrified her. To find them, she would have to leave the safety of her cabin. She would have to step beyond the forest, face the world she had abandoned, and eventually confront the memories of the night she had spent years trying to forget. She did not even know if she was strong enough to remember everything. She did not know what she would find when she finally uncovered the truth. But she knew one thing with absolute certainty: she was their mother, and a mother did not stop searching for her children simply because the years had passed.

Danya looked toward the sky and took a slow, trembling breath. The moon hung above the trees, watching over the forest that had become her home. She closed her eyes, allowing the tears to fall freely down her cheeks. “My children,” she whispered into the night. “Where are you? Your mother misses you. “Her voice broke as she swallowed hard. “Your mother failed you that night.” For a moment, she could not speak. Then, barely above a whisper, she made the promise she had been too afraid to make for all those years. “Please, my children... wherever you are, be safe. I am coming for you.”

Reuniting with her children

Coming.
