A Day In the Life of an Empress An Introduction of Empress Sinjin
THE PAST
I didn’t become the Empress of China for my beauty or because it was something I wanted, for those that don’t know, marriages were arranged back in my time. A woman in China didn’t have a say in what happened to her life. Her parents had made the arrangement for her and the Prince of China at the time because of an alliance that would bring to the Empire. I couldn’t show displeasure of any kind, I had to paste a smile on my face and just go along with whatever was said. Life wasn’t easy for me, even though I lived in a palace and was giving everything a “Princess” needed, it was behind closed doors that would change my life into what it is today. Terrible things happened and I won’t get into all the details right now.
It was one night that things had gone way beyond what they should have that made me pick up the blade and slit the throat of my groom, the Prince of China. Seeing his blood didn’t faze me at all, I was beyond caring and thinking clearly. I left his body on the floor of a bedchamber and fled, knowing that if the guards caught me I would be killed. I didn’t get away unhurt though, knowing that the one injury was fatal, I still made my way over the wall to freedom. I wouldn’t give the Emperor the satisfaction of getting ahold of me before I died on my own terms.
I couldn't tell you how long I walked but as I lay on the ground, I could feel my body becoming weaker with every breath and that is when he slowly came out of the darkness and approached me. He kneeled down next to me and I could see him looking at me, I knew by his expression that he had figured out what had happened to me. He reached out slowly and took my hand in his before he told me that he could help me, that he would make me stronger, that I wouldn’t have to die and that I could seek my revenge for what was done. He promised he would teach me everything I needed to know to survive and I am not sure what it was that convinced me to trust him but I did, I was dying anyway..what did I have to lose, right?
So that night, I did die but I also came back from the dead. I was faster, stronger and immortal and true to his word, he taught me everything I needed to know before he moved on, we still keep in touch when he comes around.
I also got my revenge and a new title, the Empress of China. Isn't revenge beautiful and sweet tasting, I made sure to leave none alive.
THE PRESENT
One thing she was known for was impatience, she wanted answers and she would get them. The only sound that could be heard was the boots of the guards that were escorting the Empress to the throne room. Her white gown moved like a soft breeze around her. She was tired of the games and as she made her way into the crowd room, she looked at the man that was chained to the floor before taking the steps to sit on her throne. She took in his disheveled look before speaking..” I gave you plenty of opportunities to come clean and tell me what I need to know and yet you still refuse.” She could see and feel the hatred coming from the man that kneeled in front of her but she still showed no reaction or emotion. “ I told you what would happen, if you still refused.” She raised her hand slightly as a guard came from the back, in his grasp was a young woman with tears streaking her face. Sinjin could taste the fear coming from the young woman and she couldn’t help the smile that appeared on her face as she watched the man look at the woman. She slowly made her way back down the steps to stand in front of the young woman. Sinjin’s hand moved so quickly and was wrapped around the woman’s throat like a boa constrictor and lifted her off of her feet. “ You gave this woman your heart, I only think it’s fitting that she does the same thing.” Before anyone could blink or move, her free hand was through muscle and bone, blood splattered on her face and the still beating heart was in her hand as she turned to the man on the floor, she let the body drop to the floor like garbage.
Two guards moved forward, grabbing the man’s arms and dragging him to his feet as she moved closed and made contact with his eyes. “ Are you going to tell me what I want to know and before you answer that..take into mind that this will be the last time, I ask you. Next time, I will just take it.” She let her lengthened sharp incisors show, she hoped that he would refuse and he didn’t disappoint her, her nails dug into his skin from where she grabbed him, looking him in the eyes, she held his beloved’s heart to his lips..”Take a bite” she told him as she took control of his mind. “Eating the heart of a loved one is so delicious, don’t you think?” She watched him as he was compelled to do what she said. She held the heart out to the closest soldier before she grabbed him by the neck. “ I told you, I wouldn’t ask again.” Before the man knew what was going on, her fangs stroke deep and his blood rushed into her mouth as images filtered to her mind as she took her fill of his blood. She stopped before his last heartbeat and threw him towards the guards, they are yours to do with as you please, the guards smiled and bowed their heads at the gifts that they had been given.
As she made her way back up to the dais and sat back down as she yelled for a rider, a message needed to be sent and it couldn’t wait. She watched her children take away their gifts, her mind was already on the message she was going to send. A servant came forward then and handed her a towel and bowl of water to clean up with. The images she had seen still flashed in her head, she should have killed them both slowly and painfully but from what she saw, she didn’t want these humans alive for one more minute. In her kingdom, you didn’t hurt anyone under her protection, it didn’t matter if they were human or vampire, and what they did..well let us just say…they took their cravings to a whole new level.
Her scribe came forward to write the message as the rider walked in. “Make sure this message gets in Empress Sinui's hands personally.” He bowed his head as the scroll was given to him. “ Is the child being taken care of?” Empress Sinjin spoke. A dark shape came out of the shadows and bowed slightly. “Yes Empress, Mei Lein Jin is with the child now.” Sinjin nodded her head before she looked at her trusted and faithful and smiled. “ There are five other’s, I don’t care what you do with them, make the streets run with blood, let hearts be ripped out and bone and muscle be shredded if need be but none of them live after tonight, all that I ask is that you bring their heads to me for proof that it was taken care of.” She walked down the steps and to her loyal assassins, laying a hand over each of their hearts. “ May your hunt be fun, fruitful and rewarding. I have some fun before you kill them.” An evil smile came over her face because she knew that her assassins would have free rein to do whatever they wanted and she knew that they would make their unwilling participants prey to whatever god or gods they worshipped to have death come swiftly. “ Make me proud.” Was the last thing she said to them before they bowed and left as she moved to the side door that would take her to the child that had been put through so much pain and misery.
